But I will always come back.
Before I get to some new pics of the shop I want to talk a little bit about the weather here. We are breaking records everyday here in the central Texas Hill Country. We have had no significant rain since last September. July was the hottest EVER RECORDED. Our high temps have not been below 100 in 20 something days, and here in Llano our highs have been 106 to 108, we even got in a 110. The Llano River (the only source of water for the city of Llano) is flowing at critical rates. And there is no relief in sight.
Trees are dying, wildlife is suffering terribly, yards and gardens are burnt to a crisp, it's the worst I have ever seen. Our lawn and gardens were just about gone when we decided to try to restore an old water well on our property. We didn't know if it still had water or if so, how much, but my dear brother, who is very mechanically inclined, got it up and going for us. So we are now able to keep our trees and some of lawn and gardens alive, just barely. When we take our walk at 9:30 in the evening the temp. still reads 97. So prayers for rain for our parched land, and starving wildlife are very much needed.
On the positive side of things business has be great, and we have some new things in the shop:
Pretty creams and whites
Some fun new jewelry
Love this altered art sand shovel by local artist Jane Lynch
Some shell art pieces

I know what you mean about the heat. It's not much better in San Antonio either. We are so ready for Fall. I hope we can make it to your open house. You have such a magical place. Shelbi and I have so enjoyed our visits to Binky's as well as Llano.

Dear Binky, our Prayers are with everyone there during this terrible drought. I've lived almost 40 years in the Arizona Desert so I'm very familiar with the challenges droughts create & how difficult a harsh environment can be on the landscape and wildlife. However, I know that for Texas this is unseasonal weather & everything has not adapted to it sufficiently to weather an extended drought. I'm sending a Rain Vibe your way... we're getting 112-120 degree heat daily now & it's humid *uggggg*, but we have had some rain thank God.
ReplyDeleteYour vignettes and Treasures as always are fab... welcome back... we missed you!
Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
